Sport Hotel Daniel in Pescasseroli, Abruzzo in Italy

Sometimes it is not the splendour of the place or the attractions around it but one small act of kindness that is the dominant memory of a visit. And so it was regarding my stay at Hotel Sport Daniel. The breakfast buffet here featured a good variety of fresh fruit including my favourite, cherries. On my last morning there were no cherries and when I asked the waiter he explained that as the previous day had been Sunday and no deliveries there were none left. It was not a problem as there was plenty of other fruit to choose from. I forgot all about and went out for the morning. When I returned for a light lunch prior to leaving for the airport I was presented with a plate piled high with cherries. They had remembered my request that morning. I was so impressed ...

    A Journey Through Abruzzo

I started my journey through Abruzzo in Italy at the seaside resort of Tortoreto Lido. An early morning stroll revealed a seemingly never-ending stretch of golden sand sliding gently into the blue sea. For those who did not want to pay for the luxury of a sun bed, umbrella and changing facilities there were also public areas of bare sand. After taking a long walk along the promenade which is divided into two tracks to accommodate both walkers and cyclists I stopped for a coffee at one of the private beaches ...

The inhabitants of the small region of Abruzzo in Italy share a passion for their region and their home town and none more so than my guides in Giulianova in the province of Teramo.
